Hello everyobne,I am a member of the Crohns, Parkinsons, Lupus forums and I have 'dropped' in here with a few questions/
I was in the mental health system for over 58 years and left after my crohns surgery cos I felt I needed a life. I left as a prescribed drugs 'drug addict' so I was told by the psychiatrist who prescribed the said drugs! I sold a family heirloom for therapy and within a year and a half got the head together, gave up all the meds plus a massive smoking addiction and at 53 learnt to drive and past driving test 18mths later.
I cannot tell you how I have revolutionized my life BUT I am now very sick physically and especially neurologically and THAT is why I have dropped in here.
I never manifested any neuro difficulties while on Largarctil or Melleril and was on everything they could throw at me including Tegratol an anti-epileptic, Litium for bipolar, Prozac,,,sleepers +++
I wonder does anyone here have any idea of the late manifestation of being on any of these drugs which I was on for 30+ years?
Oh, I was in the system for behaving badly as a young adult after a crap childhood which included sexual abuse.
Hope all are well here, I would have to say I have never been more depressed in my life!

Hi Ann
I have been off of meds after 10 years, I too abused the meds. I would start getting very down and would take one more that I should have ect ect. It increased from there.
I still have very very hard times with my depression and panic/anxiety attacks. I am not sure how long it takes for the meds to get completely out of our systems.

If I was you I would contact your doctor and see what he says?

No, Shy, I didn't abuse the meds, was just given too many for all the wrong reasons!!! I was sexually abused as a young teenager.
Actually, for me it wasnt long before I was off em all, a hefty amount too. It took about two years reducing very slowly. I am only now taking one sleeper.
Best o luck Shy

Hi Ann
Sorry about that,I must have read the post too fast.

That is great news that you are just taking one med. I know it feels so good not to have to worry about them.
