My son who I always seem to be fighting with has gone on vacation for 3 weeks.  You would think I would be relieved to have some peace and quiet but that is just the problem.  I can't stand the quiet!! Most of my friends are on vacation too so I only have 2 friends to do things with and they don't want to do something every day or even talk on the phone every day.  These 2 friends like being alone.  They enjoy the quiet.  I guess they are used to it as they have lived alone for a long time.  I have never lived completely alone so not having someone to talk to is so hard.  I am filling my days with volunteer work, dentist, therapist, errands - the usual stuff one does.  It is the late afternoon and evening that is so hard.  I just can't get used to not having anyone to talk to.  It is so lonely.  I watch TV and have some good books to read but that still doesn't help.  Sorry for going on like this as always but I just need someone to listen and maybe offer a few words of encouragement.  Getting older is no fun.

Aurora, I am battling the same loneliness you are. There are things I can do to fill up my day, but in the end, I come back to an empty house. And some days there is nothing on my agenda or I just don't feel like leaving. I never thought I would consider  55+ housing, but it's starting to sound good to me. Someone suggested I find a roomate, but I also like my own space.

I talked to a woman who mentioned she and her friend bought a duplex together. I happen to have one, but no friend who needs a home.

...just want you to know you are not the only one. There must be a lot of us out there. But I think there are a lot who like to be alone.

Greetings to Aurora and Korissa :)

I just wanted to offer that if ya'll ever want to chit chat, I'm always here.

I guess my age is either old or young, its how you look at it...in any case, I'm 37 and the mother of one. My boyfriend is bipolar and as much as I adore my kid, she can be a real pain in the keester too! It's the parent thing you know ;)

Anyway, I'd love to hear from either of you if you ever feel like dropping an email line or IM me.

Take care,
WCC

Thanks Korissa and Wickedly for your replies. It always helps to hear from someone.  I would like to email you Wickedly but there is not email address listed for your.  Or I can just post to you on this message board.  Let me know what you would want to do.
