Hi all,

I'm new to this forum and like many on the topic of wight gain on zoloft, I too have gained weight, 16 lbs to be exact.   I started taking 50mg of zoloft in May of 2007 and for the next two months my weight was under control.  Up 3 or 4 lbs was not that big of a deal.  However, my Dr. increased my dose to 100mg and that's when my weight gain soared to 16 lbs. over a period of about 30 days or so.

I  have to admit that zoloft has helped me tremendously.  I'm now able to sleep and have the energy to work out.  I'm more relaxed and able to manage the daily stress from work.  But, I continue to gain weight.  I'm excercising 5-6 days a week (walking, jogging, strength training) and have improved my eating habits but still cannot lose any weight.  It is driving crazy.

I've scheduled an appointment with my Dr. to discuss the possibility of switching to something different.

I'm very happy to have found this forum.

I am sorry Joe180, there isnt anything wrong with your post here or any reason for my edit...I am just a space cadet today.  I was going to move it into the other Zoloft thread but decided against that since it was for those that has stopped the med.  Since your still on it we can have a thread for those who have problems with weight loss while on Zoloft.  Please forgive me....Thank you ~ Elisha

Hi Elisha,

No problem and thanks for the info.

I did visit the thread on Zoloft and Weight Gain before posting and did want to post a reply, but I couldn't because it was locked.

I was very relieved to read that I'm not the only one experiencing weight gain while on Zoloft.   I just wanted to share my experience.

Thank you.

Joe

Hi Joe,

No your not the only one with this problem, I too gained on Zoloft.  I took 200mg for well over 6 years but it eventually quit working for me when I became sick with my heart problems in 2005 so I ended up switching to Effexor Xr.

I too was floored when I saw how many people had this same problem.  When I started my exercise routine and changed my diet and still my weight wouldnt move I thought it might be because I was 31 yrs old (everyone says it is harder to lose once you reach 30).  Granted, most of it I have lost after being off of it but I was able to lose some while on it.

Would you like for me to copy your post over to the other thread?  It is still open for posting, we are working on a new server and there have been a few bugs the admin is working out so that may be why it came up as locked.

Take care

Elisha

Elisha,

Yes...I think it's a good idea to move this post to the other thread.

Thanks,

joe
