Hi
I am usually on the panic/anxiety board.  But since I seem to have that under control, for now anyways.  Now i'm suffering from depression.  I cry all the time and I feel like i'm  not here have the time.  I have the I don't care feeling.  But my question is how can you be depressed and noy know why??  I've known people who have been depressed but they always had certain problems that made them depressed.  I can't pinpoint any problems that can make me this depressed.  Can depression just come on for no reason at all?
Ant replys appreciated

Thanks
Brandy

Well, I don't know about this either really, but I'm kind of in the same boat. I'm depressed but I have no idea why or how it happened. I mean, I've had a lot of big changes this year (graduating from college, moving home, starting graduate school) but I certainly can't pinpoint an event or time when my depression began. Like you, I'm very just sort of apathetic about everything. I'll be interested in hearing how other people reply to your question, as it will probably apply to my situation too. I hope you find support here, I've only been on for a few days, but the people on these boards are very supportive and helpful!

Hi there,

Depression (As far as I know) doesnt appear out of thin air, however people might not know what the cause is conciously. Sometimes we hide memories from our concious mind and these can be the cause of the depression, but because the memory is hidden, it seems like it has come out of thin air... Does that make sense?

I used to be like that. When my depression first started i had no idea how it began. I was stressed out, but i didnt think that alone could cause something so horrible. But when i started therapy, a lot of things came up that i didn't realize bothered me so much. It then dawned on me. If u ever start therapy or if you are in therapy then you have a good chance at figuring your depression out. I think that's one of the first steps to recovery. Therapy didn't help me with much but it did help me with that

Hi This is my first time here. I think sometimes depression just stops in when we are stressed and there are many things in life that can bring it into our lives. It is not uncommon or something that has to take over our lives but we all have difficult times or changes. The mind just needs time to sort things out. Somtimes health that is not good ,death of a loved one , repeated attempts to overcome hurdles in life with no relief can certainly do it, or something someone said to us or treated us in a not so nice wqy. This is part of life sometimes and hopefully we get back to enjoying life and being ourselves in a better way.lol gail

My issue is the anxiety that came with menopause and that kind of change. I would try to "handle" and deal with anxiety for month after month before depression would come on. I suspect that the anxiety and depression are related. Get help and check out therapy, it will help.

Hi Brandy

I have a question for you...my depression seems to get worse 2 weeks before my period.
I am edgy,I cry and I am angry for no reason.
It took me awhile to figure out my calender but now I know..could that be a possibility with you?

I would get yourself to the doctor and let them know what is going on.
