Hi:)
I just started blood pressure meds six days ago. My pressure keeps going down. I am now at 99 over 66. Is this okay? How low can it go before I should become concerned? Also since I have been on them, my glucose levels never go above 90 even an hour after meals. Before bed my bg is 79 but I usually drop at least 20 over night. I have been eating to get up to at least 95 before bed. Is there anything else I can do. I really think I need less meds?? I see the doctor in two weeks. Is it safe to wait that long? Thanks:)

Hi ceebee, I'm on BP meds but I don't believe they affect my blood sugar.  Your numbers seem on the low side to me (but you know I'm not a doctor!).  I think you should call or see the doctor and discuss that with him.  Low BP can make you feel light-headed, especially when you stand up or get up from a lying position.  So, it's good that you're monitoring yourself.

I was told that my lower number should never go below 60 and prefer no higher than 80. Upper numbers should be 80-140 (prefer 100-130).

Thanks:)
I do get dizzy but several of the meds I am on also do this. I see the doctor in two weeks so as long as the pressure stays here I feel safe now. I am also coming off the prednisone so the glucose numbers can be reflecting that. This is the first time in almost four months I haven't had to see at least one doctor a week I am so looking forward to the break. I can't wait until I do not have to see doctors for months at a time:) I appreciate your replies Lanie and Marburg.

My blood pressure generally runs about 115/60 to 115/64 at the doctor's office, a bit lower when I test at home- I don't take medicine. No one seems unduly concerned. I don't feel dizzy or anything- so it must be okay (for me at least:-))

I hear you on the doctor visits- it wouldn't be bad if you got in and out- but all of my doctor's seem to have missed the class on scheduling appointments.

Ceebee, I am on a bp med with a diuretic. I noticed that when I started eating low carb, my bp number dropped significantly. I still take the meds, but now my numbers are in a normal range where before even with the meds they weren't. I use a wrist monitor at home, but I periodically take it with me to the docs office and take my pressure immediately after the nurse does to make sure it is maintaining its accuracy. So far, it's been just about right on. But, my pressure is always way high when they take it at the doc's office, so I keep a little log so they can see that it's all good.

Thanks tutorgirl:)

My blood pressure is always way high at the doctors too. I took my log with me to show what it is at home, always low. It was 149 over 80 at the doctors! I have an UTI and on two antibiotics though so maybe that was why.
