I had not had anything in about 10 hours before I did my labs for that test.  Nephrologist said he was not overly concerened about that, said it should be less than 100.

But, should I be concerened?

He has me on a low carb/sugar/salt diet and I have been exercising.  My last bs before that was 155 but I had 3 large glasses of juice within 20 min of taking that test when it was 155.

Three large glasses of OJ would probably send me into the 250 range, maybe higher. Diabetics are often told to shoot for fastings under 100 - but Dawn Phenomenon can make that hard to achieve. You can have fastings in the 115 range, and normal all day long (70-90's) and have an excellent A1c.

Your doctor probably has a good reason for telling you not to worry- medically, it may be very acceptable (based on your other health conditions). The recent ACCORD study showed that forcing tight control of blood sugar to the exclusion of other parameters such as blood pressure and cholesterol is pointless and could even lead to the untimely demise of study participants.

Why not ask your doctor why he/she feels that 115 is acceptable for you, when, in general fastings of under 100 are the target?

thank you, I will, I think I know the answer but good to double check. We know that the prednisone is upping my blood sugar (I should have put that in my post) and I get to taper down from 40mg a day to 10, so that should help, I hope = )
