My last test my sugars were at 260 but I had been drinking gatorade and vitamin water all day right up until my blood work..........why did I do this?   I had a colonoscopy the next day and needed to drink stuff w/electrolytes so I would not dehydrate and maybe not the best stuff to drink in retrospect and the fact that it did not even occur to me that it would screw up my lab work.  I am decreasing the pred and have been watchful of refined carbs/sugars, though I had fallen off the wagon some and have not been exercising lately.

Is the 260 really bad, considering everything I mentioned above?  I am back to eating well and once I beat this cold will be back on the treadmill, will have my next blood work in two weeks.

Thanks so much!

Beth,
Do you have your own meter? If you do you could be testing yourself and not have to wait for the bloodwork. As far as the 260 being bad... I'm not going to judge you nor give you permission to eat or not eat. I can strongly recommend that you look for some low cal/low carb electrolyte waters (they are usually at the drug store and labeled for diabetics) for your next colonoscopy.

Falling off the wagon is something we all do and the secret is to choose wisely at your next regular meal and go on as if nothing has happened. It's all about the choices. Hope all your tests go well.

Chrystal Light came out with a drink with electrolytes that I drink. One is premade in pink lemonade(comes in a 4 pack for $2.98 at Walmart) and one in a package to mix with bottled water in mixed berry(Walmart $2.00). These are better for us than Gatorade which was recommended when I was sick. Taste good too:)

Thanks Ceebee. I was looking for something to replace Gatorade. Now I know what to look for.
