I am 44 years old. The short story- I have a congenital heart deffect and low renal threshhold diabetes. I was diagnosed in 1998 with congestive heart failure. I am a 7 year recovered alcoholic and drug user since I was 9  years old. Currently,   I am not under any medical care yet I am going blind and a pulse rate suggests tachardia. How serious do you think my diaetes is at this point and is there anywhere i can get free medical help? As a bartender I am now unemployed (recovered acoholicas suck as bartenders) and the fact that I cannot see anymore to even walk down the street alone as well as not being able to read without 150 watts of light and a huge magnifying glass is not impressive to prospective employers. There are not alot of jobs for the blind, and thus I am homeles as well. Any info as well as personal opinion on my health would be most graciously welcomed, or is it time to give up all hope? Thank you, Beth.

Where do you live? If you live in the US most states, counties and cities have health clinics available for people with little or no income. Tachardia may or may not be serious depending on various health conditions. Given that you have Congestive Heart Failure would indicate that you need to see a cardiologist ASAP. There is no way to know how serious your diabetes is without knowing what your history of blood sugar readings are. Please check with your local health services offices to find out what can be done to assist you.

God bless.

Please find a local church or shelter and ask for some help. There are programs in place for people who need help, you just have to find them. Your local library should have a county or city listing of social agencies. Take care and keep us posted.
