Hi all. I found these forums looking for info on my Crohn's disease (most recent fun health development.)
I have trouble controlling the Crohn's due to the fact that steroids jack my bloodsugars and send them out of control (control is very good with insulin pump otherwise.) Doctors seem to not know what to do with me being I have multiple diseases.

Just wondering if anyone else is kinda in the same boat? Does treatment for one of your diseases complicated things for another?
Type I Diabetes- 29 yrs. (MiniMed Insulin Pump); Celiac Disease- 7 yrs.; Crohn's Disease- (Nov. '06)
Taking Flagyll right now. Not many of these drugs seem to agree with me. Can't take Prednisone/steroids because they jack up my bloodsugars. I have no desire to try IV drugs for Crohn's.

Hi Miguel, there are some other members who have also been on or are still on prednisone for various reasons.  And I believe some other members are also dealing with other illnesses along with the diabetes - you can read through some of their posts.  I'm sure it's hard for anyone having several illnesses at the same time.

Hi miguel:)

I am on prednisone for severe asthma. The pred gave me Diabetes2 and does make my blood sugars rise. I control the spikes by eating a very, very low carb diet. I have been on pred continuously for 11 months now and working my way off them. I am on 10mg now but next week go on 5mg and see what happens. Hopefully, I will be off pred in a month and see what happens to the Diabetes them. My A1C was 15.2 when I was diagnose with Diabetes and is now at 5.8and hopefully lower once off pred. I know you must have dietary restrictions already and don't know if low carb is for you. Good luck and take care:)

How is your crohn's without the prednisone? My daughter has crohn's and has refused the pred. She didn't want the problems that go with it on top of her crohns. There were times when she lived on baby food, and juiced fruits and veggies to remove the fiber but she refused that prednisone. Could you try that?

She also went off of all of her pentasa and everything else that she was on... She pretty much controls it with diet and keeping her stress levels low as possible.. But I know it's different for everyone. Wish I could help.
