Good Morning

Well, today is day 4 without my diabetic meds.  So far, so good :-)    the only slightly high reading was day 1, but it was after a chinese dinner with dessert.  Yesterday I was able to go all afternoon without having to eat.  Also, havent had to have any bedtime snacks either..anyway...have an apptmt next wednesday with the Diabetic Clinic and will update you on how that goes.

Hope you are all having a great friday, its the weekend yeah   yeah

Hugs
Diane

Hang in there, girlfriend! I've been thinking of you. KInd of scary out there without those little pills "to make it all better". Sometimes I don't like being a grownup and being all responsible for my own healthcare. eyes

Jeannie

My sister insists that I am doing my body harm for stopping metformin cold turkey...but I argued that if my levels are stable, what harm could there be?

thank you for your support Jeannie :-)

I wasn't aware that your sister was a doctor.... or is she?

I stopped my insulin (Lantus) and avandia cold turkey AND changed my diet drastically at the same time and it was smooth sailing. The meds are there to work on the carbs we consume. Stop consuming carbs and you need less meds. It isn't rocket science... Oh, and you can break the pills, also, and take smaller amounts. Just a thought.

I think it would be worth your time to be sure to watch your weight very closely.

It seemed to me while I was using insulin it was a lot easier to hold my weight down.

If I let my weight start to climb, my sugar readings start going up too.

LOL Jeannie....she is the oldest in our family...NO she isnt a doctor..just thinks she is tongue tongue tongue

Jack, I weighed myself last night, and I have dropped 3 1/2 lbs.  I was so bad to not journal daily like we are supposed to, and it took a  while before I realized that I was having to eat more often the past month due to the increasing low levels.
My appetite has definately subsided some, but one thing surprised me last night..and discouraged me as well...all I had for supper was a hot dog, that was around 6 pm....when I checked my sugars at 10pm...they were getting high sad   still single digits, but....
I was up thru the night with an upset stomache as well...not sure if its connected to the drastic changes I made this week or not.
I hope you are all having a great weekend so far!!

Did you eat the hot dog on a bun?  Then, it was the bun.  If not, check the nutrition label of the hot dog package.  Some brands have fillers and jack up the carbs.  It might have been better to eat a salad/some salad food like cukes, radishes, celery along with the hotdog?
