went to my doc last week, and she was a tad upset with me going off my diabetec meds cold turkey.  She has me back on them...but only half the strength I was on.  SUpposed to monitor..lots and lots, and she will see how I am in a month's time...or should I say how my monitor is.  She is a little skeptical about my diabetes being reversed now that I am off the prednisone, however..in a month from now..she may agree that I can go off the meds again and control the diabetes by diet.  I have to admit that with half the dose...I havent crashed at all yet...however...I am back to having to eat regulary....darn it.  I used to be able to go from mid morning till dinnertime without eating, but not on these meds. Another good thing was that I have lost 8 lbs since end of June...so that I think..is the "prednisone" weight I am dropping.

Hope you are all having a pleasant start to your day :-)

Diane,
If you want to continue to lose weight, not eating isn't the answer in the long term. Eating tiny meals several times a day is the way to go. If you decide what you are going to eat for the day and divide it up you will do better than if you ate it all at one meal. Also, don't forget your nuts and oils. They satisfy for a long period and delay hunger. Carbs jump the intestinal barrier very quickly, spike your insulin and create hunger very soon after consumption. This is why they give you bread sticks when you are waiting in a restaurant, to make you hungry for the main course. If they served you olives and/or nuts your hunger would diminish. One good thing to eat when hungry that's nutritious and hunger satisfying is about 2 oz of motzarella cheese (2 one by one inch blocks) along with about 18 peanuts or 6 almonds. You have protein, calcium and monosaturated fats going on here for healthy snacking. Good luck with getting your diabetes under control. You may be able to get back to controlling it with just diet eventually.

Thank you Jeannie,I am also taking MTX, which really plays havoc on my appetite.  The ability to skip meals was so alluring to me....didnt have to deal with the too full feeling and nausea I always get afterwards.

I will try the nuts and cheese for meals after my mtx day (every monday), I was always leaning toward a sandwhich on those couple of days after the dose, and maybe that is why I feel so lousy for the first half of the week.?  I love nuts, but never think to buy them unless it's Christmas or something tongue

Hope you are having a nice morning
