I had my annual physical today with all the blood work and I'm eager to see how the lab tests come back.  My last A1c was 5.6 last November with great improvement in the cholesterol, too.  Since losing the weight and upping the cardio, I've cut out one of the two BP pills I've been on for years.  My BP has come down generally (except in her office) and my resting heart rate is in the low 60's, much lower than years ago.  The only glitch is hitting this plateau and have actually gained about 5lbs since the spring. mad   Various explanations are:  not enough food and the body thinks it's starving, or not enough protein, or too much protein, or more muscle.  More muscle is possible or probable but it's not like the clothes are falling off me.   I haven't figured how many calories I eat but the doctor figures it's around 1200/day, so she's sending me back to the nutritionist at the diabetes center.  This is awful because I just know we're going to butt heads about carbs againdevil I've been controlling the blood sugar so well and I'm not (hear me?) not going to raise the blood sugar to follow their stupid diet.  skull   And tomorrow we're leaving for NYC on a mini-vacation, so I won't find out about the lab results for about a week.  And, yes, I will eat a really nice dessert at least once (maybe twice) but will generally stay focused on this way of eating because honestly I feel healthy.  If any of you have any ideas about jump-starting the weight loss again, please give some pointers, ok?  I'll be gone for about a week enjoying the Big Apple.

Hi Lanie:)

I also had my check up and great news! My A1c is now 5.1 from 5.8 last time. HDL is 64 up from 49 and LDL is 97 down from 109. Without all the help I received here, I would not have seen this. Thank you all for the help:) I also lost another 15 pounds. Starting to wean off the Lantus. YES!! Lanie, I also hit that plateau and found a way that works for me to jump it. Seems my body gets used to low carb and adjusts to it. So, now I take one day a week and eat more carbs but within reason. I let the BG go to 120's or maybe as high at 130's. Then go back to low carb. Then I start to lose weight again. My son also went low carb and the same thing happened to him. He tried my "quick solution" and it worked for him. I don't know how low you keep you BG but I try to stay in the 80's and 90's. Maybe this will work for you? Good luck and have a wonderful vacation:)

Hey Ceebee, how are you doing?  It's great to hear from you and wow! what great results! shocked   I've been keeping my blood sugar under 100 and my average on my meter is 91, so I'm eager to see what the lab says.  So, that's an interesting strategy about the carbs on one day.  Hmmm.  That could be a way.  Maybe I could try this when we're in NYC.  It would be easy then since I'm not at home.  Thanks.  I'll report back!
