My fasting was 83 and the A1c was 5.5.  I thought it would have been lower than 5.5 but I'm happy anyway.  My last two were 5.6 over the last year and a half.  But a puzzle for me was my total cholesterol at 194.  The last two times were 173 and 185 (lower than 2 years ago at 215).  However, the HDL was 74 and LDL was 103; ratio was 2.6.  The doctor is happy and I am too basically except for the weight loss plateau.  Still trying to digest ( eyes ) what others have suggested:  eat more protein, eat less protein, eat more in general.  (I haven't been to the diabetes nutritionist as the doctor suggested......) I've pumped up the cardio though.  Well, considering where I was 2 years ago, this is a huge improvement.  And, honestly, it seems the blood sugar is under control because of the low carb plan with the exercise.  Also, my blood pressure has come down and I'm off one of the 2 pills I'd been on for years; my heart rate is about 20 points lower than 2 years ago.  All other lab tests were perfectly in normal ranges and a good EKG - so now I'm going to eat a cheese puff sandwhich roast beef, lettuce and mayo!  And a protein bar for dessert.  Then go outside and finish weeding the garden.  Folks, I'm going to be 60 and I'm healthier now than I've been in the last 20 years.  And not one gray hair...... cool

Way to go Lanie:) I have come a long way with your help and you continue to inspire me. I listen to the doctors and then continue to do what I learned here. Even having to up the pred lately, I am in control. I AM IN CONTROL...what great words! Don't worry about the weight. Health is more important than weight. Take care.
