Do you have to tell the people at security if you are carrying lancets?  I think I read that somewhere but I'm not sure!  Does anyone know for sure?

Lancets?  I'm not sure about that.  Even though they would have that protective plastic cover, I would mention it to the TSA.  You have to tell them about needles and syringes though.  I think it's best "when in doubt" to inform them.  People travel with them all the time.

I've traveled a lot and never even thought to tell them about the lancets!  I always have them in my carry-on luggage and they x-ray that and nothing has ever happened.  They know about people needing lancets for testing so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Packing all my diabetic supplies in one bag allowed me to take it right out of my carry-on, hand it to security and say they were diabetic supplies. Made it easy for them if they wanted to check and made it easy for me to have it all in one self-contained place. (I use a cosmetic case). I carry my extra lancets right in the same pouch my glucose meter & supplies are in. I've internationally travelled 3 times this past year and have never had a problem.
