New to here
My mom has Type II diabetes, (she is around 5'6 and 120 pounds before) she have been on Metformin for around 4 years and controls her blood level weel.
Since the Jan, she noticed continuous weight loss (Not a lot, but she can notice)
Doc said that she may change to Precose because precose has fewer side effect than Metformin.

Hope people here can give me some suggestion, thank you very much.

And I am also worrying when she did not lose weight a lot in the past three years with Metformin. So I am urging her to do more medical test. Hope she is OK.

Also, Thank you guys.

Hi BigPanda, I'm sorry there have been no responses yet.  I'm not familiar with Precose but when I googled the name, I read that some of the side effects are that it's "easy to lose weight" with this drug.  So I would ask the doctor more questions since your mom is already thin for her height.  There are other drugs or combos she could use, I'm sure.  I know that sometimes meds become less effective over the years and there's a need for change.  I hope there'll be other answers that can give more advice soon.

I haven't lost any weight while taking Metformin. The other drug I don't really know about. Like I heard someone say, "If it any broken don't try and fix it."
