48 yrs old - Type II (Actos plus Met) diagnosed 2 months - Been on 5 mcg Byetta for 1 week - some muscle cramping in the stomach...not really nausiated. Sunday morning 6:00am I went to the restroom to urinate and started getting dizzy...bad. I fell trying to leave the bathroom. I was able to get up and go to the fridge. I thought I was having my 1st very low BS reading ever. I could not concentrate enough to remember why I was in the fridge. Ended up laying down on the kitchen floor for several minutes trying to get my bearings. Finally remembered to yell for my wife - she got me chocolate and my meter. BS was 140???

Has anyone had this happen on Byetta? It scared the hell out of me. Being dizzy is one thing, passing out is another.

140?  So it's not a hypo situation.  How's your blood pressure?  You need to tell the doctor - and keep a daily log of your blood sugar readings, etc.  Byetta side-effects can be all that but I thought it was because of low blood sugar.  My question is can byetta cause you to faint even if your blood sugar is not low?

normal blood pressure - 115/75

That was the strange thing - I thought for sure I was looking at a very low BS, but it was 140. Before going to bed my BS was 90...this is low for me.

I remember standing at the fridge and not being able to "remember" what to eat to get my BS back to normal. I coach HS Football and I've been around some bad injuries, but I was scared to death by this.

I just hope this is not a "normal" side effect for me...? I take the Actos plus met 2X a day - we were hoping to drop that to one time a day when I get to the 10mcg dose.

Thanks for the reply
