Hi,

Thought I would come and introduce myself

I am Karina and Mum to a baby who was born with Diabetes.

Sarah was born on the 28th November 2008 at 31 weeks weighing 1 pound 9 ounces. She was rushed to NICU where they worked on her and got her breathing on her own.

Her BSL was 27 within hours of birth so she was started on an insulin infusion.

She had a bowel operation at 6 days and at 3 weeks we met with her Drs.

Sarah has a rare condition called Pancreatic Agenesis meaning that her Pancreas is Absent. As a result she has Neonatal Diabetes

She went on a pump at 12 weeks old and finally was discharged from hospital at 16 weeks.

She is now 7 months old and is just over 10 pounds!

Cheers

Karina

Karina, I hope she and the family are doing well.  It's a rough start in life but I'm glad she seems to be in good hands.
