I am still having a hard grip with coming to realize I am diabetic when 1 day my sugar can be down to 75 and go all the way up to 166 in a matter of seconds like tonight after just having a sip of coffee with splenda.  Is that how a diabetic is with quick rises in sugar levels like that?  My doc had me get off the metformin after a week because my sugar went so low taking 1/2 pill at breakfast and 1/2 before dinner and to send her my blood sugars for 2 wks and I will be starting my diabeties class tomorrow nite.

I don't know why your blood sugar is yo-yoing like that.  It's sometimes normal for a diabetic to spike after eating a large meal that has too many carbs, but why you're also going down to 75 is a puzzle.  If it were happening to me (knowing what I know now), I'd see an endocrinologist.  Diabetics can lose weight like anyone else when they cut out the carbs and engage in regular exercise.

I don't know.  Normally we hear of uncontrolled diabetes in type 1 causing such weight loss.  The only thing I'd suggest is talking to your doctor.  You should be keeping a daily log with times, what you eat and your blood sugar readings to show the doctor.  Maybe you need more blood tests.  Have you had the GTT?  (glucose tolerance test?)
