Howdy all,
Well my old meter died and I not have a new one that allows using other then finget to draw sample.
But so far I can't get any blood from anywhere then my fingers.
I can pinch my fingers to get a sample but cant get it to work other places I just dont get any blood.
Anyone got a suggestion on how they pinch the skin or whatever you do to get the blood?
Thx

Al, sorry for this problem.  I'm not sure if this helps but I've read that rubbing the area and also applying warm water can help bring some blood to the area.  Maybe someone else will come along with better ideas.

Al,
The meter I had for alternate sites had a small, clear cap thingie that you placed over the poke mark. It pushed on the skin in a circle all around the poke and that made the blood come up out of the small hole. You might try the small cap from a perfume spray or a lipstick tube. They are about the same size as the one that came with the kit. One thing, my doc told me the arm test isn't nearly as accurate and asked me to stay with the finger pokes.

Good luck with this... Good to hear from you. My chicken is lying on top of the computer smiling at me. : )

I ended up going back to my fingers because I actually find the alternate sites more painful. And you have to set the depth to a deeper mark than for your fingers if you use the alternate sites.

I've never tried alternate sites, even though my meter comes with the little thing Jeannie refers to (to poke your forearm). Finger pokes are more accurate so, I prefer them.

Washing hands in warm water for a bit usually works for me when my blood runs "slow".

AL,

I don't have advice, but want to say that after reading your sig, whew!

I have T1 and Crohn's and those two alone are plenty for me. You are allowed as many colorful metaphors as you like!
