Since mid-December I have lost 15 pounds, my blood glucose levels have dropped by about 15% and my A1C fell from 7.6 to 6.3. He was almost as pleased as I am. Looking for more improvement yet in the next three months.

Thanks to everyone for the support! Not one Peep has passed my lips this year.

Way to go, Judy!   And I think with the weather getting more spring-like, you'll be able to get outside and increase activity.  I'm getting a little tired of being house-bound!

Peeps, YUK! They are awful! This year I'm not making Easter baskets for the grandkids so there won't be any candy around. We're gonna make homemade icecream and I'm making some for myself ahead of time. Whipping cream and sugar free gelatin for flavor should be ok on my sugar in small amounts. I'll make a pint just for meturn

Gasp.  No Easter baskets?  cry   about 15 years ago when my kids were younger (well, weren't we ALL younger then?), I replaced the candy with little books, special pens, Beanie Baby, plastic eggs with some quarters, etc. and through the years the items have changed with their ages, a DVD or CD, movie coupons, and so on.  I do buy a miniature chocolate treat to put into each basket but that's it.  The Easter Egg hunt for the plastic eggs now with my grand-niece will have little items, too, but no candy.  We don't miss it at all now.  tongue

I used to work in a program for families of preschool children. At our Easter egg hunt, the plastic eggs contained stickers, the egg-shaped crayons and one piece of wrapped candy. In theory, if children don't eat sweets so much they won't crave them as adults.

In my case, I've never been a big sweets-eater. My vice is complex carbs - breads, pasta and so on. Chocolate Easter bunnies don't bother me at all.

My goal (which I know may not be attainable) is to get the labs back into the normal range.

Still, it's good to have a goal.

I always figure if you don't try, you're defeated before you start. I have too much life in me to give an inch on any of my physical inconveniences!

Just a little update. I've now lost 19 pounds and my BGL has been below 120 (both fasting and after eating) for a week!
