Judy said this in another post and I just want to remind all of my diabetic buddies to not take chances with your feet. The weather is getting warmer and sometimes you want to just step out to grab the mail or trot out to the garage in your bare feet. DON'T GO THERE! Little stones, slivers, broken glass, all kinds of stuff out there that sandals will protect your feet from.
Last summer I went swimming without my swim shoes. I should have my head examined! Zebra muscles aside (the shells of these little guys are like walking on broken razor blades!) I stepped on a shoot from some type of dune grass. It cut my foot and left the small tip of the plant in there. Kind of wrecked some good times from the vacation. Hurt foot, soaking and dressing changes, antibiotic creams, limping made my back hurt... Yadda, yadda, yadda...
Also, we are supposed to wear slippers or sandals in the house as well to protect our delicate tootsies. So I'm just passing on the advice. Learn from my stupidity so you don't have to do it, too!
