When going to the Dr and he is testing your lipids including glucose and you havent eaten for 12 hrs should you not drink water during that time also ? How about brushing your teeth the morning before ? And what kind of meal the night before ? Thanks

For specific questions dealing with labs, you need to ask your doctor.  Normally, my doctor's office tells me I can drink water and take whatever meds I have to take.  Brush your teeth, floss and rinse.  Unless you're swallowing your Crest and Listerine, caring for your teeth shouldn't affect your labs.  Dinner should be a normal dinner of whatever you usually eat.  Eating normally as you do would result in more accurate labs.  How about eating this for dinner: a big bowl of ice cream with chocolate syrup followed by Oreo cookies.  Do you think that would skew the lab results in the morning?  Do you normally eat that for dinner?  I don't think anyone should alter what they eat the night before for these tests.  Otherwise you're not getting an accurate picture of how you metabolize food.  Your glucose levels would be affected.  I don't know about the other tests.  The bottom line is:  Be true to yourself.  (Where have I heard that before?)

Wasn't that a song, lol I have always drank water, brushed teeth etc and even taken my Pravastatin the morning before. Just thought id ask. Also somewhere I read that no matter what you ate IF you were "normal" you blood glucose would be back to normal in 3-4 hours. Still dont think ill try the ice cream and syurp though...
