Why I love walking at the mall...
It's NOT Hot! (I live in Texas and walking at the track is HOT in the summer)
The floor is flat and even, and I'm not likely to turn my ankle on a rock.
I can look at shoes, purses, jewelry while I walk and not worry about stepping in doggie poo.
They play music, and I don't even have to bring an ipod which I don't have.
I go before they open, and I don't bring my purse in, so I can't buy anything, but have fun looking.
I enjoy the smell of Starbucks when I walk by there.
Best of all, I can look at all the cute clothes that will be able to wear when I lose the next 40 pounds!!!!!!!!
yeah Join the club! yeah

As hot as the weather has been this summer, I think any place in air conditioning is a good place to walk. I use the walking track at the local Wellness center.

The heat is too much here too.  Hovering around 100 has stopped me from going outside for walks, so if I don't go to the gym, I always have our stationary bike in the playroom, exercise DVDs and dumb bells.  Whatever works for you, just do it.

Same here... hot 98-100's and index oc 105-115. I had a heat index of 114 Saturday. Too hot to get out side. I'm sensitive to heat so I have to be really, really careful even exercising inside with a/c.

No more hot weather here. I'm uncomfortable as soon as it gets to 28C, but luckily I have this heat pump that keeps the house slightly cooler than outside. It's cooler inside malls and all, but I'm not much of a shopper and I find them shopping centers uncomfortable for other reasons...

Malls are Wonderful yeah yeah
I can go there and roll my self around the mall doing some shopping or just looking on a hot summer day or other nasty weather without having to worry about getting my wheelchair up or down some curb where there isn't a curb cut or having somebodys yapping talk chase me down the street.  I don't think most dogs know what to think of someone in a wheelchair.  There is one in my neighborhood that used to pester me everytime I woul go down to the park at the end of my street. One time he even lifted his leg and pee'ed on the side of my wheelchair. confused   confused Fortunatly I saw the dogs owner and confronted her about what he had done.  She did take responsibilty for what he had done and washed of my wheelchair with soap and water before I went back home.  Next time I went past her house the dog was chained to a pole instead of running loose.

Malls can be nice places to go if you are able to get there before the actual stores open and they become crowded. I know many of the malls around here open up at least an hour before the stores do and welcome "mall walkers". 24 hour Wal Marts can serve the same purpose, especially the superstores, but once again you want to get there early. The big drawback with using a supercenter or other 24 hour store is that you have to watch out for all the freight on the floor and employees running around with pallet jacks, etc.

Personally I have trouble walking down the street or at the mall. Really any place that has really flat and level surfaces. For some reason walking for very long on such surfaces causes my back muscles to tighten up really fast which then causes increased pressure on my bad discs which in turn pinches the nerves in my low back and has come close to causing me fall.

It still happens when walking on more uneven ground, like walking on a nature trail, but not a fast nor as severe. I think it is because of being forced to change my stride which causes my back muscles to stretch from time to time while walking.

What I really need to do though is reorganize my back room a bit and make room for the total gym I have in the basement so I can bring it up and use it more often. (stairs just kill me anymore).

I tell you what. If you have ever thought about getting a total gym (or something like it) do it. The thing really is great. No you wont develop big muscles if that is your goal, but it is so low impact and there are so many things you can do on it you really can get a good workout in a short time.

Why I dont walk the mall or go to it...

Well I live in the country (thank god lol)

And me and malls? Seriously are you crazy? Never let a woman near a big shopping place. I already break his wallet and mine, I dont think he wants me near those credit cards! And those pretzels, as a "d", well I love them pretzels, but it aint good for me, so it keeps me away from temptation of those yummie soft pretzels and burning a bigger hole in the wallets.

While your laughing and men agreeing, Yes, I am a woman who admits the "faults" we are so good at doing. Soo before you tease me, mind you, I can get you back for beer, football, nba, hockey, soccer, pizza, bars, etc.
