I've been type 1 for about 10 years now, and have been on a sliding scale of humalog 3 times a day, with 6 units of humulin ultralente twice a day. The problem is that lately i've been having to take more of the humalog for the same amount of carbs 1 per 15. I'm going to my specialist on wednesday. Just looking for some ideas to what this could be.

I also take humalog and notice that i have to take more for the same foods. I take 1 unit for every 10 carbs.

I don't know the answer but i do experience the same thing.

Hi Brian

Welcome to the forum! I've been using ultra and humalog for several years now. About a year ago I was very ill with a flair of ulcerative colitis. Ever since my humalog usage has been very different than before. Another idea...the longer we use it the more it may take. Could be the body 'adjusting' to the stuff? Has the fat content of your diet changed any? That can make a difference. Just some ideas to throw out on the table. Hope you find your answer on Wed.
