Hi Franny. I don't know if I have a lot of help. I have a pretty good diet plan. I'm type I, but I am on pills and insulin. Was your A1C 28?
I can give you my dr's diet, and I also can tell you what I just started trying. See..I crave something chocolate or strawberry sometimes. So, I've bought some powdered shake mix (not Slim Fast, but a K-mart name brand.) I bought a Hamilton Beach milkshake mixer for my husband for Christmas. He loves ice cream. Especially in the form of a shake. I cannot have it, of course. so I've been drooling ever since Christmas.
But I found this chocolate and vanilla powder shake mix, and I can make myself an ice cold shake. I'm using my usual breakfast...1 or 2 slices of toast, butter, and a cup of coffee. Then about 10 a.m. I have a shake with some sliced cucumbers or radishes, or the like...all that I want of them while I'm having my shake. It fills me. Then around noon I have another one, with the raw veggies again. Then I have to make it till supper........sometimes I have a cup-a-soup (chicken noodle) and I drink Crystal Lite drink mix. Then I have a regular supper of about 700-800 calories. I hope this might give you an idea or two.
