(I have moved this member's post to a new post so it may be viewed by more members~Jeannie)

I have a 8 year old child who is in the process of being diagnosed with juvenile, or type 1, diabetes. The readings so far range from an average fasting level of 90-100 and post meal readings of 140-350. Dr. has not prescribed anthing yet. I am of course interested in alternatives. One common denominator seems to be diet. I have used a low sugar diet to date to hold the levels down with success. It is still early. One question, why is post meal readings so irregular, even when my child consumes a fairly large amounts of carbs and sugars? Is it possible there are beta cells still present? Can they be regenerated? Help!!

I found a few links that might be of interest.
1. muraglitazar is possibly dangerous. (bristol meyers).
2.A link to milk. see www.notmilk.com
3. New research shows that beta cells are not stem cells as previously assumed.
4. (Link removed) 'Glucosium' has the similar ingredients to Diabeticine and claims "no cure". It's has other minerals as well.

I am still waiting for the "DR's" offical prognosis......having some doubts about being type 1 since the bs can be controlled by diet alone.

(Could you possibly place your email address in the protected part of the site on your personal page? That way members could contact you about this product. Hope you understand, I know you are trying to be helpful.~Jeannie)
ok...I am not sure exactly how to do that..but I will figure it out.

I have ordered Diabeticine, and the blood sugar formula from vitabase AND Glucosimine from yet another site. The vitabase product is very similar and is less expensive. I have administered small amounts of chromium which seems to slow the wild swings in b.s. slightly. It also helps for a better recovery. It's just that the recovery seems delayed for whatever reason. I still haven't seen the Dr's final prognosis, I just hope he isn't insulin resistant. Well it's a wait and see situation for now. I will post up regarding the Diabeticine, Glucosomine (sp?) and Vitabase.
