I'm having a bad day today sad    I've been doing a lot better lately with my diet, but I can't get it out of my head what might go wrong with me.  I'm really worried what damage I may have already done to myself.  I'm feeling really down about it all.

Hi Claire,
I hate that you are having a bad day! I was having one yesterday,
As you know from us talking last week and how stressed I was that
It's not good for our blood sugar! How is youre's running today?
have you talk to youre doctor and have they done complete blood
work on you lately? and when was youre last eye test and podiatrist
visit? keeping up with all that( as much as we hate too) can give
you a good indication on how things are going! I have neuropathy in
my feet and they were killing me yesterday which in turn makes my
blood sugar crazy! I hope youre having a better day than when you
wrote this ! Take care Iam thinking about you!!!!

Hi Allison Rose,

Thanks for replying - I'm feeling a little better today.  I had an appointment at the hospital about a month ago and that all went well, all the blood tests are okay other than my overall blood sugar levels being too high. I have had everything looked at but I still get those awful visions of things going wrong.  I guess I just need to do the best I can do and have confidence that I'll be fine!  I think having diabetes has made me so aware of every single little niggle I have that I think I'm ill all the time!  :-)

I'm sure I'll have a better day today - I hope you have a good one too!

Hi Claire,

Well, I get to thinking about that sometimes myself.  what did I do to myself when I let my control slip.....do I have silent damage running around that will kill me??

And then I remember about the bodies one remarkable feature.....its ability to heal itself.  Some things just can't be reversed, but contrary to some medical opinions, a lot of things can.  For instance, they will tell you short of surgical intervention, Arteriorsclerosis can't be cured.  But on the contrary, there have been clinical studies that show that Niacin, a simple B vitamin, taken in excess can ameliorate or even reverse the condition.

So I've simply become an optimist, thinking that a really healthy lifestyle with putting the right stuff in my mouth can ultimately let me lead a really nice quality of life.  Still doesn't cure the diabetes, but that attitude makes me a lot happier yeah

Thanks Warren,

I agree with you there.  I'm glad to say I don't always feel like that, just had to get that off my chest at the time.  I'm much more optimistic at the moment, and I'm sure having a good attitude will affect health for the better.

Hi Allison Rose,

I was feeling down because my sugar levels wouldn't go down, but it just takes a bit of time.  I've been bad this weekend (as in, I haven't eaten as well as I should do) but I'm not going to beat myself up over it.  I'll just be better today.  I personally think that blood sugar levels do make you feel down if they are high, not to mention the worry you feel about it, so if you are getting highs it's bound to affect you.  I notice you mentioned in another post about your medication - have you thought about changing it, or speaking to a professional for their opinion?  I found that, when I went to the hospital, they gave me just small pieces of advice that once I implemented I found made a big improvement.  One suggestion was that I was actually giving myself too much insulin (I was getting a lot of highs).  When I cut back on the insulin the highs started levelling out a bit - the highs were rebounds from the lows.  We all have bad days, but didn't you say you had some good results back about your kidneys?  This is a really good thing!  Just hang on in there, and don't keep it bottled up if you feel bad.  We're all here to listen!  I hope you're day is a good one today.

Hi Claire,
It's funny you should mention about cutting back on insulin because
my doctor did give me a sliding scale now that he has me on lantus
along with my 70/30. I was having soooo many lows last week that
everytime that happened I would also have soooo many highs rebounding the lows. when my sugar gets high my mood changing to someone I dont want to be and my body also craves carbs when my sugars are high. last night I went down on my insulin and woke up this
morning with a reading of 82( it has'nt been that good in a long time)
so I also went down on my morning shot and then worked out for 40
minutes and came home and my sugar is 128. I feel so much better
today and have a positive outlook for the rest of the day (but it's only
8:30am well see what happens LOL) my kidneys did come back fine
so I am relieved about that. Thanks for being there when I need to
vent. I hope you are having a great day!!!!!
