I am not sure if my issue is diabetes related but so far after nearly two years of dealing with this matter and getting no where with multiple doctors perhaps someone on this forum can offer help. I have a condition from time to time that results in my burping (no belching) sulfur. It is so bad the smell could clear a room. When it comes on, it will last several hours and then develop into a severe case of diarrhea. The condition can go on for weeks and suddenly disappear for months. I have Type 2 Diabetes diagnosed about two years ago. I have done a food diary but nothing was conclusive. I have had every test imaginable. Gallbladder scan, blood test, CT scan, Lactose Intolerance testing, stomach emptying study, Whey allergy test, Celiac disease test. I even took antibiotics for possible bacterial overgrowth infection and that didn't help. One Gastro doctor suggested the issue could be related to Oxycodone use (20 mgs per day) but could not explain why the issue would come and go for months at the time if it is drug related. He suggested trying Reglan but when I read about the dangers of the medication I dropped that plan. Family doctor and visits with two Gastroenterologists have failed to help and numerous internet searches have failed as well in providing any answers. So has anyone else faced such issues or even have any advice? Thanks for any and all help.

Oh gosh, Jim! I don't know. I immediately thought of stomach issues, bacteria. A website I'm going to post here suggests maybe h.pylori. Have you been tested for stomach or duodenal ulcers? I know you have done a thorough search and had numerous tests. I don't have a clue. www.newhealthadvisor.com/Burps-That-Smell-Like-Rotten-Eggs.html

I'm sorry I don't know of anything more. I hope others reading this can help!

Lanie, thanks for posting. Have not been tested for ulcers, in fact it has never been mentioned. Might do a search to see if it reveals anything. I have done so many searches that include sulfur/rotten eggs and all of them suggested testing that I have had. That is why I am my wit's end. It is just so hard for me to believe I am the only one in the world, or so it seems, that has this condition and no tests so far can determine the cause.

Jim, obviously there has to be a reason and the items on the lists like the ones on the site I posted (I'm sure there are other sites, too.) should be tested and eliminated. I mean, I don't believe in something like this happening for no reason.

It would have to be related to the gut though. If it's also flatulence, that would also be a clue as to where the origins would be, seems to me.

In any case, maybe someone else has ideas. Good luck with your search for relief. Wish I knew more to help you better.
