Columbia Unibersity is releasing information about
how they developed a method using a PET scan to identifiy the beta scan production. It is supposed to be accurate, much more than any test currently being used. It will enable doctors to identify diabetes much sooner and also identify people that are likely to become diabetes.
the downside is that it is a PET Scan and they are not typical test and not cheap. Those with no insurance or those in an HMO might never see the test available to them. But, it is still a big step for diagnosing diabetes sooner. Getting a doctor to refer us is a problem.
