Hey, Hilary. I know how you're feeling. I've been on Byetta 5 mcg accouple months now almost. I've lost 20 lbs which is great but I miss eating! Sometimes dinner rolls around and I skipped lunch and I'm still not hungry. It's wonderful for bg control but a lot of times I feel like I have to force the food down my throat. Sometimes I'm low and I still can barely eat.
My only suggestion would be to take a Byetta break for a day. Some people find that their appetite is still suppressed in that day, but some do not and enjoy a healthier appetite. I understand how you're missing food. Of course, you're only in your second week so a Byetta break may need to be farther in the future. My doctor told me that for holidays, birthdays and such, Byetta can be skipped so I can actually enjoy the food instead of feeling full after two bites of turkey.
I know to others its like, "Well, what's the problem?" But having to force yourself to eat isn't all that it's cracked up to be. There is no pleasure in food anymore. Food is meant to be enjoyed, that's why some of it tastes so good! I go out to eat with friends and they think I'm anorexic. I was also throwing up when doing the combo of Byetta and Metformin, so my mom thought I was bulemic. Ugh.
