Just wanted to report that at my 3 month check up for Byetta use my HC is down from 8.3 to 7.1.
My oral meds (glugophage) have been cut in half as well as my cholesterol!
I have gone from 273 to 217.
Byetta is working great for me and the results make the side effects and restrcition seem well worth it!
Thanks for all the support!

I'm happy to hear that med has worked well for you. I wish I could take it, but I have gastroparesis and can't take it due to being on Reglan and that med would defeat the affect of the Reglan.

My son tried it and it caused such stomach problems he couldn't take it either, so you are very lucky, indeed.

Congrats on the weight loss!

Hi Joanne! That's GREAT!! My numbers did not do as well after 3 months on Byetta (5mcg) went from 8.8 to 8.6, no weight change. After 2 months on 10 mcg I am down to A1c of 7.5!! and also down 18 pounds!! I am getting use to the constant state of nausea... and although we have 100+ degree weather here in Texas, I still walk around with a sweater or blanket... but... I love the improvement in my numbers!! Keep up the great work!!!

gail yeah

Wow, good job! I agree with you & I have learned to just deal with the fact that I feel sick to my stomach CONSTANTLY!

I find the heat effects me really badly. The nausea is way worse on hot humid days and I really have a hard time with it. But the big picture is looking much better and I try to stay focused on that. I know I had said if my numbers didn't come back greatly improved I would have thought about dumping the whole thing!

For now I'm trying to be a trooper and focus on the results.

Thanks for the support and you keep up the good work too!

I never thought I would be able to give myself injections of lizard saliva! I don't care if it's the real thing, or synthetic....This has been a really huge thing for me. But I am desperate to fight these rollercoaster blood sugars. I came down out of the 3,4,and 500's this past month. I stopped eating anything white, and the blood sugars came down into the 200's within 2 weeks.
Then I went to my doctor, and was put on the 5 pen of Byetta.two weeks later, I am now on the 10 pen, and still feeling great, but the BS is running from 80 to the Hi 200's in a matter of an hour! WHOA!!!!
Can't say it's done that much for weight reduction yet. But I have hope.
I am in my 3rd week of Byetta now.

The weight lose came slowly, about 1-2 lbs a week for me. I've been on BYetta since The end of June. I've seemed to have come to stand still w/ weight & numbers so I am trying to increase my activity level.

Keep up the good the good work!

I am so impressed with you people! I have no insurance and so until it goes generic I won't be using Byetta... The way you all stick with it thru nausea and the other side effects is really great!

You should try the  manufacturer and see if they have a patient assistance program.

I work in the pharma industry and know that most big company's have these PAP program and you can get your meds for cheap or free!

It's worth a try!

I found a site (on one of the Byetta sites) for getting lower rates on my meds! Rxdrugcard.com.....you can sign up @ $49.95 a year, and get a considerable savings on your Byetta.
WalMart would normally charge $239.00 for the Byetta, but with my discount card, it ran $198.00. I know that's still alot of money, but every little bit helps.
I am hoping they don't find some terrible drawbacks to taking this medication in the years to come.

I know how you feel. I am the ONLY patient my doctor has ever put on byetta and at my local Diabetes care center there are only 2 of us!
I actually gave my doctor MORE information and websites to visit them she gave me!
I kind of feel like a guinea pig!
