to other adults who were dx with type1 at an early age who are doing just fine in adulthood. He was dx when he was 3, he is 4now.We have pretty much gotten used to him having it, we don't pitty ourselves, and we don't let our son pity himself. I think he's still too young to know how to do that just yet!

I pray that there is a cure in his lifetime! Thanks for replying. cool

Hey I Will Conquer,

I recognize you from the A/P forum.

I'm 28 and have had Type 1 diabetes since I was 3.  I'd be lying if I said everything was in total control and I was great....but the truth is that I lead a very normal life even with diabetes.  I have no complications (yet), even after 25 years with the disease, I eat what I want to when I want to for the most part (adjusting my insulin to compensate, of course), and I really don't let diabetes dictate my life.  My sugar levels, while not awesome, are far from bad.....I'd like them to be lower, but I don't have too far to go yet.  I'm happily married and intend to have kids some day.  Honestly, my A/P (which is actually relatively mild in comparison with a lot of people), feels like much more of a burden to me than my diabetes, for the most part.

If you want to email me, I'm at bethany at mts dot net.  Feel free.
