splenda is made from Sugar. How much do you use? I would not use splenda for baking. I would use regular sugar and eat less of the goodie. You could be eating too much of a carb that your using the splenda on. If it's coffee it could be too much milk.

I hope this helps.

The Hood Carb Countdown milk only has 3 grms sugar per cup, as opposed to all other milk with 12 gm - and it taste ok, too.

Re: Splenda and other sugar substitutes.  I don't know that my numbers spike, but I drink a LOT of diet soda.  Diet Pepsi, if I have a choice.  Am sure it is detrimental, no specifics, just a feeling that it can't be a good thing.

I look fwd to comments from others re the substitutes.   :-)

No Splenda for me. It makes me crave sweet things. I think it may have made my AM BG rise though- I asked my husband to bring some water in with him because I was already in bed and all nice and warm- he brought me some splenda flavored water that I had decided to try. I just drank it with my meds, and drank it once during the night when I got up to use the facilities. Next morning my AM reading was up by almost 30 points! I retested it with three different strips and 2 different meters and that reading didn't budge. I quickly dropped to my regular daytime numbers- and was fine the rest of the day- my husband brought the other 3 bottles to work.
I always use regular sugar when I cook/bake and either balance it with protein or just eat a bite or two- it works for me. If I want something sweet I use a couple of drops of Stevia. It has no effect on my BG and I don't want more sweet things afterward. sandy
