My brother sent me this article link from Science Daily on some new fats that have shown problems, especially for diabetics. Just want to keep you informed.

New Fat, Same Old Problem With An Added Twist? Replacement For Trans Fat Raises Blood Sugar In Humans

Guess I'm ok staying with good old fashioned olive oil, peanut oil and a little bit of butter... Flavor is great! and I'm back to the "All things in moderation" routine.

Hi Jeannie. First of all, thanks for passing
along any new info you come across. We
all need all the help we can get! It's just
the topic I was writing to you about.....
(we just can't catch a break sometimes)
I was just prescribed Avandia. I found out
about my diabetes in Oct. '05. On insulin,
metformin and glipizide and now Avandia.
Side effect...weight gain. I've lost 19 lbs.
in the last 6 months. Dr. says 5 more lbs.
should be enough to lose for me. Now this
med could fight against MY fight to be fit.
Go figure. As long as we keep fighting...that's
what's important. Know any more on Avandia?
Thanks again!
think happy thoughts and stay strong.

Super news about the weight loss! Especially at the rate you are losing! That means you are making healthy choices over the long haul, not just starving yourself. I'll bet your Doctor is happy for you. When patients follow the advice they give, it makes the reason they went into medicine worthwhile.

I like my Avandia. It has really helped my numbers. Avandia is a med that enhances the ability of your own insulin to get into your cells. It also slows the liver from converting glycogen into glucose. Both of these actions help keep blood glucose numbers level but it will only work with proper diet and exercise. I found a couple of great websites on it but one of them you will need a masters in pharmacology to read. Here's the link to the regular people site:

Yours may be one of them...
