Hi everyone and welcome to all newcomers. I apologize for being away so long, though I have been reading the forum almost every day.  The Crohn's had not been behaving very well lately, but I'm juggling medicines and I think beginning to see light at the end of that tunnel.

Just a week ago I got a CPAP machine.  I have mild sleep apnea but the doctor was more concerned that my oxygen saturation was low all night long when I had my first sleep study. I do feel that I'm sleeping longer and better now.  I have noticed that my morning glucose readings have become very consistent, in the low 100's.  Until recently they were erratic and often in the 130's, even when I followed my plan carefully.  I haven't had a chance to do any research, just wondering if it's possible that sleeping better could improve my control.  Anyone else noticed anything like that?
Take care. Lois

That's an interesting thought. I know my mother has untreated sleep apnea. She refuses to get a sleep study done. I am going to ask her what her morning blood sugars are like. She is a type 1 diabetic too. I do know that her blood sugars are very unstable all the time though.
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.  Shouldn't I be invincible by now?

Lois,
Glad you got the sleep stuff fixed. I admire your spirit dealing with both Crohns and Diabetes. Just finding the right diet for both problems can be a headache let alone trying to influence blood glucose!

about the CPAP... seems to me that if your O2 levels were low that would act as a stressor and raise blood sugars... So by returning to healthy oxygen levels you are actually relaxing your body more and helping your sugar levels... Looks good on paper!

Thanks!

AMM, I hope your mother will change her mind about the test. They're not a lot of fun to do, but sleeping better is a blessing to anyone.

Jeannie, it takes some imagination, but there are ways. Veggies can be a problem, but baby food and V8 juice are decent alternatives to salads, though I do miss the crispy, raw foods. I roasted some vegetables yesterday and even threw in some radishes -- never tried them cooked before, but they were good. It can be fun to experiment when I have the energy. :) Hope all is well with you and thanks for your continuing support and wisdom here.
Take care. Lois

OMGosh! I have to try cooked radishes! I have been hooked on radishes my whole life! The night before I delivered my last child all I had to eat were radishes and Vernors Ginger Ale... figured if I was gonna have heartburn, might as well be for something I liked!

Hang in there girlfriend. Don't let the Crohns get you down! BTW, have you tried juicing? We did that for low residue breaks on my daughter. Plays with the blood sugar a bit, but if you maybe mixed it with some oils to slow down absorption??? Just brainstorming here... Might be beyond yucky to eat...er... drink... But maybe some coconut oils with fruit juices, or avacado mixed with veggie juices...? Don't know how to help but maybe a dietitian could work out a special program with juicing and oils for you? This would really put them through their paces and maybe make them do some research, but that's what they get paid the big bucks for, right?

Glad to see you posting again. Just get your rest and feel better. That's an order! (LOL!)
