Awwww, AMM, sorry you are feeling so rotten. Just hang in there and stay hydrated. Do you have a 'sick day plan' from your doctor's office? Last time I got sick I got one from the local diabetes education place & my doctor's office faxed me a plan as well.

One of the things I had not remembered was that some of the over the counter cold meds were full of sugar and alcohol. I ended up using sudafed and vapour rub for treatments because they were the only things safe with my meds and diabetes.

Mostly it boiled down to staying hydrated, taking my prescribed meds and trying to eat some stuff that didn't make me feel worse. Now if this was a virtual internet I could send you a nice pot of home made chicken soup with some carrots and peas and a bit of barley in it for texture. As it is, I hope you are feeling better soon.

Feel better, Dead!

You might try Boost Glucose control liquid nutrient- that stuff kept me alive while I was suffering with the multiple infections a couple of weeks ago. It also kept my sugars fairly controlled during the course of antibiotic.  sandy

Thanks everyone. Keep reminding me to rest. My nose is just like a faucet and the coughing is driving me nuts! My sugars have been a little better today. However, I will be in the middle of something and start wondering why I feel so tired! Could it possibly be the dripping nose, the underlying headache, the near constant coughing and the screwed up blood sugars? At least the upset stomach has gone and I don't have any fever. I am feeling completely inconvenienced by this thing!

AMM, so sorry about your feeling so sick.  I'm sure you're doing everything you should be doing:  fluids, resting, eating light...   If you are having headaches, our old family treatment was to lie down with a cool damp cloth that my mom sprinkled with vinegar placed on the forehead and across the eyebrows.  Of course you will not want the vinegar to be dripping, so wring it gently to make sure it won't get into the eyes.  (Of course, now, if it does get into the eyes, it would sting and take your mind off your headache ....)  Seriously, we always did this and for some reason the headache lessened.

Well, upon waking up this morning I can actually breathe. I'm still a little stuffy but my nose isn't running like a faucet. My headache is just barely there. I haven't coughed yet. And the best part......my blood sugar is 97. Now my ex is bringing my daughter home from spending the last week with him tomorrow. He hasn't been in my house in at least five years. It's a mess at the moment. Our daughter is being baptised tomorrow and he is coming to be there. (Our religion doesn't do infant baptism.) So, I have to get it at least looking a little better. I know hubby will give me a hand when he gets home tonight. So, we'll get it at least presentable. I'm not going to go overboard. It's just that with being sick I have really let it slide. I just think it is so wonderful that she will have both of her parents there and her stepfather, grandparents, great grandmother and aunts and uncles. I haven't spoken much to my ex over the years, but the neat thing is he is so impressed with my insulin pump! He tells everyone about his ex wife who has type 1 diabetes and this wonderful thing she wears. He really wanted to give it a good looking over last week. He said a lot of diabetics come in where he works and he has been telling them all about what a difference an insulin pump has made for me. Well, I started coughing again, but it isn't as persistant and it is loose. Anything respiratory worries me. I nearly died from pneumonia several years ago. I spent an entire month in cardiac ICU because of it. My heart stopped briefly at one point. My mother was there when it happened. I hope she never has to go through seeing my heart stop again. The minute an elevated temperature happens with something respiratory I am at the doctor's! I am so relieved to see this starting to go the other way.

Ooooooo, I'm so sorry. I hate being sick because of what it does to my BS levels, too!!! I'm a big fan of a daily multivitamin and Ester C! I trot myself to the doctor's at the first sign of a fever as well. I tend to weird viral things that hang around for MONTHS so I am literally on TOP of it the second I spike a temp.

Feel COMPLETELY better soon!!
