Hi, I am new to this forum and enjoy all the information that is shared.  I have a question.  I started with Byetta about 2 months ago but because of continuous high bg readings in the morning I was started on Lantus.  At the present time I am on Lantus 28mg.  This morning by blood glucose was 99.  My question is, should I take the Byetta this morning even though my fasting glucose was 99?  I am afraid I will get a low blood sugar reaction.
Thank You.

I'm not a type 2 diabetic but I think you should probably take your byetta and eat your breakfast. Just always have some glucose tablets handy in case you do get low. I've been a type 1 on insulin now for 27 years. I have had many lows. They aren't fun but as long as you have some glucose tablets available you will be ok. Take a few glucose tablets and test after 15 minutes to see if it is coming up. If it still isn't up enough take a few more and test in another 15. I think you will be fine at 99 before your breakfast if you eat your breakfast.

I didn't think Byetta was recommended with insulin? I'm not much help here with Byetta so, I'll be quiet now and let those who know about it chime in :-)

Come to think of it, I think I have read that as well.

Thank you. Being Sunday I obviously couldn't call the dr. I did take the Byetta and my bg is stable at about 90 now. I will definitely call tomorrow and ask about the Byetta/Lantus combination. I used to be able to control my blood sugar with metformin but I have never had readings this low so it is all kind of new to me. Thanks for your help.
