Hi Bear, I'd always read about the "sweet" smell related to diabetes, too, but if you're controlling your blood sugar maybe it's something else. Have you eaten asparagus lately? That sometimes causes a particular smell. Or, maybe you need to drink more water. You might be dehydrated, so the urine is very concentrated. Maybe you can get lower readings though. You could call your doctor and have it checked out to find out what it really is?
The color is light and clear. It seems normal other than the faint fruity smell. I have no clue.... I hope my kidneys are ok

Thanks for your reply. I've noticed it mostly in the morning or if I wake up in the middle of the night, not really during the day. My fasting bg numbers have all been below 120, and my other readings during the day are usually lower than fasting #s. I test 2 to 3 x a day, once when I wake up, once when I get home from work in the afternoon and one 2 hours after dinner (usually). All my numbers have been pretty good, usually in the 90's or low 100. The highest ones are in the morning.
I think my hubby figured it out. We bought a canteloupe... duh. I was having a couple of slices for the past couple of days. I think it was messing with my sugar and maybe causing this too. My sugar was way too high this morning, 123. I told hubby when he came home frome work and told him ... "all we had was chicken and salad..". That's when he reminded me of the canteloupe. Silly me.... I don't know enough about this diabetes yet to make good choices regarding fruit!! No more melon for me!
I'm bumping this up for Bam66. Hi Bam, I still get this on and off, although I think the fruit set it off the last time. I'm pretty careful but it still happens sometimes.
