Hi,

I am normally at the ulcerative colitis forum, but have recently been found to have proteins in my urine and am going to see a nephrologist and in my googling, I found some sites that also talk about type 2 diabetes, I am 31 and overweight and my Mom also has type 2 diabetes.

My appointment in Monday the 13th and of course I am worked up (trying to calm down now) and just curious if I can try to rule that out (though I know only a Dr. can but trying to give myself some peace of mind).

Always something........too bad no kidney forum here!
Thanks,
Beth

Beth,
I hope you just need to follow some basic diet considerations and that you don't have diabetes, but if you do we will be here for you every step of the way. You are going to be in good hands. I had a nephrologist as my primary care physician when I was diagnosed and he was very intense about kidney stuff because he works with it all the time.

I've had high albumen and protein in my urine for most of my life and do have some basic kidney damage from my diabetes but I drink lots of fluids, take my prescribed meds and am doing fine.

Hang in there, girlfriend! We won't desert you.

thank you, I am terrified right now. I keep on reading about stuff on the web and keep on seeing dialysis and transplant and I am really scared. There is just so much I want to do in life and I haven't seen anything good.

I am sorry you re going through everything! Hearing that you have had protein in your urine most of your life and you are doing okay will get me through this weekend until I see my Doctor. Thank you!
