Hi and thanks for reading..

I have started to have symptoms like im living a dream..kind of...I see haloes and after-imaging. My eyes are sore and sometimes they flisker when i try and sleep. I forget alot.. like right now when im trying to descride all my symtoms. I get wierd sensations sometimes ill feel amazing!! honestly its unreal i feel like theres nothing can get me down then in one click im back into a dreamy sort of way. The good thing is i can easily get myself hyped up like this if i put my mind to it. Sometimes i get little smells and tastes which are unusual. My eyes ache and its sometimes hard to read. But what i find wierd is my pupils are unsually dilated! all the time. In the sun they will go really small. I am more sensitive to light.

Please any feedback atall would be really helpful! Much luck to you all.

Mogs, I would like to welcome you to HealingWell.  What you are describing doesn't sound like any type of seizure that I am familiar with, but I am not a medical professional.  Darren, our moderator, lives on the other side of the world and I am sure will be checking in later.  He is extremely knowledgeable about epilepsy and will probably be able to point you in the right direction if he does not think it is epilepsy.  I was only diagnosed myself about 18 months ago, so I still have a lot to learn.  I just wanted to respond and welcome you.

Take care!

Hi there Mogz and Welcome to HealingWell,

Thank you for the kind introduction Carla!  I suppose the burning question is "Is this Epilepsy?" and, as im sure your aware, nobody here can say YES or NO but this is solely opinion based and is not a replacement for proper medical advice.

If I am being honest (and I try to be as honest as I can) this does not sound like epilepsy. You have not mentioned any kind of blackout or loss of conciousness and there doesnt seem to be any muscle spasming (as found in Grand-Mal Epilepsy) The state that you describe seems to be a state that you enjoy (I.e. a good feeling - "its unreal i feel like theres nothing can get me down") but you flick between this and a hazy state (What most people describe as a brain-fog). Combining with the pupil dilation thing, hyper-sensitivity (causing abnormal sensations) and loss of memory, the first thing that comes to my mind is Anxiety. I could be wrong on that but thats what comes to mind for me.

Have you had any neurological tests done? (For example an EEG, Video EEG etc...) These are all designed to pick up epileptiform waves in the brain and (although not 100% accurate) can often tell someone whether what they are experiencing are seizures and whether they are epilepsy based or not. My advice on this one is to see your doctor and if needed, get a referral to a neurologist for testing.

epilepsy.com has good info on the kind of seizures you never knew existed! My son was having hallucinations, anxiety and odd behaviors come to find out he has complex/partial seizures in the temporal lobe and deep within the hippocampus of his brain- I thought he was adhd or autistic! Research and go see a neurologist and I suggest keeping a journal of symptoms because it can be hard to figure out! Good luck and feel well.
