Well hello everyone!!

I have read some of your postings and I just want to let you hear from an older person, at least as far as epilesy is concerned.   I have been taking dilantin since I was seven years old, I am now 70. I also take mysoline ( an old drug also).  I thank God daily for dilantin and mysoline because I have not had a seizure in many years ( except for a few when my daughter was ill and passed away ).  However, some of the things you all talked about with long term use I have experienced.  In the last few years my stomach has given me problems but I just never made that connection except I did know that it does a number on your liver.  My bones are not good.  I am certainly not well coordinated.l  I have never been a fast person---move slowly, work slowly, do everything slowly.  One of the worst things I have is paranoia, depression, and more and more I want to
keep to myself which probably makes things worse.  I could go on but don't want to make this too long.  Let me hear from you please.

Hi there and Welcome to HealingWell!

I am so glad that you have found us. We always appreciate new perspectives from other members and the older generation are severly under-represented here, which is a shame as older people have so much information and experience to pass on.

All the best

Darren

Hi wes/sam,

I just wanted to say hello to you and let you know I read your post. Sometimes you just feel a little lonely and unwell this is a good place to come, I hope. I am new here also. I am 49 and had seizures for years when I was little then seemed to have out grown them. My parents took me off my seizure meds and my neuro retired. I seemed to be okay until 2002 when the seizures came back. I live in a little rural community where few seem to have much of a understanding concerning seizurers. I am lucky my husband is pretty good about them. I am glad you wrote wes/ sam you reminded me of my favorite aunt when I read your post. Keep writing it will be good for me and you. Monte

Hi Wes/Sam,

You have arrived at the right place, it"s helpful for us to have a forum to chat with others, and in turn we indeed help ourselves.

Stay well and happy, Stuart (author) Beyond my Control
