I'm new, obviously. I have been diagnosed with Tonic-clonic epilepsy six years ago and this is the first time I'm talking to anybody about it except for my family and neurologist.

From the first time I've had seizures they have been roughly a year apart. I've had a seizure on the 7th of August and went for a blood sample immediately after. My levels were fine. I knew it was the seizure "season" again so I concentrated on getting adequate sleep, not consuming stimulants or aclohol ect. - not that I don't normally - and yet I still had a seizure.

There are only three things I've noticed about my seizures: 1. The first few left me in agony, I had terrible headache and every muscle in my body hurt, but they were all early in the morning. 2. With the last two seizures I've had it seemed that I regained my wits faster but one was about 7pm and the other 2:30pm. 3. I seem to be "down" the day before my seizure.

Thats pretty much my routine. I wish you all the best.

Oh yes, does anybody have a service dog?

Hi there and Welcome to HealingWell,

It does seem strange that your seizures have all been a year apart and that would suggest that there is something that occurs around August time that causes it. Do you have any allergies (Such as Hayfever) that are particularly bad in the summer? I dont know if heat can cause seizures but I guess if your body gets over-heated, it might be a possibility.

As for coming round with a headache and sore muscles, that is quite normal for tonic-clonic seizures. You say you are "down" before your seizure... Do you suffer from depression?

Hello there I remember one year back in the early 90's I had one seizure in a as I have gotten older it just worsened.. I remember I marked the year somewhere I will have to look it up...I applied for a service dog 6 years ago and it was all set till they received my hospital records and they declined because I was having too many grand mals (beleive it or not) it was a rather upsetting thing as I had really got my hopes up...

Don't have allergies or hay fever but I do get depressed sometimes, I would'nt say I am suffering from depression though.

My doc's put up my meds from 600mg to 800mg Epilim 2x daily and Rivotril 0.5mg 3x daily for when I am stressed or if i've got a cold or when i use antibiotics.

I am sorry to hear about the service dog. My fiance would have been alot more at ease if I had a service dog but I think my seizures are too few and financially it would'nt be viable as I am in South Africa.

Have a good weekend, I'll be gardening if anybody needs me. smilewinkgrin
