Because of such limited visits / communication with neurologist, I've been completely unable to make official changes to my dose of Topiramate, aka Topamax, since... 2004, really. I've halved my dose for years, to stop me being a zombied sleeper in the working day, and it's working just perfectly. The main niggle is that my allowance to drive is in line with a clause that I follow the guidlelines of my neurologist's prescription. No arguments so far, and my doc is very understanding, informally... I'd rather keep the license and go thru the odd cluster headache than lose another job...

I'm new here. Is this site entirely US? Is there any UK knowledge? Any advice?

Hi there,

Not sure how I missed this post! Although this site is mostly US, I am one of few UK based moderators so I know about UK specific meds and can sympathise about the NHS!

My recomendation would be to speak to your GP. He can (although he may choose not to) alter the dosage on the topamax. He can choose to defer the situation to the neuro which (as you have said) is a pain since it is REALLY hard to get to see one. But I agree, that it is safer to take the higher dosage and keep your licence.

Everyone has a guardian angel. They help pick you up when you fall, comfort you through your times of need and help you appreciate the times when things are going well.
