Hi my name is Shant'e.
I'm 17 about to turn 18. When i was 3 i had sleeping seizures through out my child hood. I had a sever seizure that i had to be hospitalize for 2 weeks. The seizures had stop as i got older. I think for the past year i been having sleeping seizures. I would lay down and start to fall in a deep sleep. i then would be paralyzed and speechless even though i would be trying to scream to wake up someone in my house no one could here me. When i start to think of away to get out of this dream or whatever it is i began to fall deeper and deeper into the dream. This sound gets louder and louder i feel like if i don't calm myself down and stop thinking that i might die or go into a coma ( i know sounds crazy) but once i calm down and stop thinking i began to come out of it. slowly as i calm down and relax. I wake up like nothing has ever happen. but it's scaring me i dont no if its a bad dream or a seizure. I usually attend to have these dream or seizures when I haven't gotten any rest in awhile. If anyone can help me or give me more advice please reply to my message.
thanks and take care. sad

If your brain isn't getting enough oxygen due to mild Sleep Apnea, and you find yourself waking up in a "postictal" state (out of it, confused, angry or over agressive or still feeling tired and not rested) you should get your Doctor to refer you to a sleep specialist. They will do an EEG while you sleep.

You may find out that you have seizures during your sleep as a result of you stopping breathing and possibly reduce your medication.

This could cure other health problems as well.

Maybe it's worth checking into.

Diagnosed with Epilepsy & Ulcerative Colitis.
Current Medications: Diantin 275mg, Pheonobarb 150mg, Asocol 3,000 mg.

Thank you Randy for replying to my message. I'm really grateful for that. I will definitely talk to my doctor.

My daughter is 16 and just started having sleep seizures. I have witnessed one and her friend the other. The first one she was waking up and was shaking all over but couldn't stop it. A Neurologist has confirmed she has seizures but we are also getting a sleep deprived EEG 3/13. She has been taking Trileptal since 3/5 for the seizures. She also gets flushed face, dizziness, headache and stomach ache during the day. The dr. said that is a seizure also. Yesterday, for the first time she did not throw up in a long time. She has been fighting this stomach problem for 14 months and nothing has shown up on any testing for stomach. I think we have found the answer. I pray this is it. Good luck with your seizures.
