Hi my name is Diedre (Dee) I moved out west to alberta canada in may to start this amazing new job as a driller in a coal mine. Found this great boyfriend and moved into together soon after. Life was great! The August came around and it fell apart faster than i could ever imagine. It all started with what the docs thought was a miscarriage, but it turned out to be nothing just a bad abnormal peroid (?) after that the chronic mirgranes started and then one morning i woke up at 4 am to go to work, got sick to my stomach and black out on the bathroom floor. By the time the parmedics got there I was seizuring. Within an hour I had had 12. the flew me outa town to a bigger hospital and there I was told I was faking. Even tho during the seizures i was unresponsive to pain and my heart rate increased and oxygen levels dropped drastically. but my blood levels would not spike afterwards.. which apparently they are supposed to. I was transported back to the small hospital here in our little town where i stayed for a month. On dilantan and still seizuring. I was up to the maximum amount per day and I was in hell. The pain from seizures and meds was enough to want to die. Here's the kicker. They cannot find it on my eeg, ekg, cat scan, mir, or blood work. so off the dilantan i went and sent home. falling down stairs, n the shower, cant do anything because i seizure all the time. at xmas i was out at an event and i began to seizure my company tried to get me out of the crowd and not knowing took me out side where i went face first on to the ice and seizured 4 times, i was on the ground for about 30 mins. in a strapless shirt and jeans. The ice salt pentrated my cloths and burnt my skin 2nd degree about 60 % by the time the paramedics learnt the ground was covered in deicer. another lovely side effect of my condition. after the burns my doc decided to try me on epi-val. It seemed to be working!! But stupid me... had gotten in a big fight with the boyfriend and packed my stuff and in the furry packed my meds. When he calmed me down, and I stayed the meds stayed packed. I missed about 3 days worth.... bad big old mistake. so lasst week i was taken to hospital with servere stomach pain and seizures again. they admit me and that morning i started to seizure and within about an hour's time i had 30 grand mals... i nearly died. crash cart in room and all. good thing i cant remeber any of that hour. or the rest of the day they doped me up soo bad, and flew me by stars to edmonton. ICU. so edmonton puts me on dilant 600mg a day and 900 mg of epival, and sedates me for two entire days to allow my body to rest. kinda like an induced comma. wed morning i had another seizure....   with all those meds in me. and now i have panic attacks too. I am moody, scared, feeling mental literally, sick, tired all i do is sleep, and did i mention mean. loss of appetite... u name i am it... i was wondering if anybody else of these drugs feel crazy? I also was on weight watchers but  cant lose weight doc sez it could be from dilantan???? this is extremely hard to deal with..... the docs in edmonton also tell me i have developed sudo seizures (look like seizures but aren't they are stress induced and like u can we woken up from them by pain or whatever unlike a true seizure)...................... please somebody tell me there is a light at the end of the tunnel...

thanks for listening to my rant. D

 Deidre,

First thing you are not faking just because you may have had a suedo seizure or stress seizure and any doctor who says something like that to a patient especially in an ER needs to go back to school or at least brush up on their bedside manner. Most DR. don't like their patients on more than one or two meds at a time so 2 is okay.I started out on about 5 and am only on 2 now and I still have seizures but I also have a vagus nerve stimulator implanted for almost 10 years. You should try to educate your friends and co-workers about your condition and what they can do to help when you have these episodes. Never ,Never miss taking your medications if you can help it!Have you seen a neurologist yet? If you haven't you probably should. As to drugs there is a lot out there besides Dilantin and EpiVal, Tegretol,Depakote,Topamax,Lyrica,Keppra,Gabitril,Trileptal which is similar to Tegretol and I'm sure there are alot more.
 Good Luck to you.

yes i have neuro guy and he is trying his best but they cant find the area where they are originating from.
the neuro is taking surgery already. scary.
he figures its from a scar on my brain from a concusion.
its hard to deal with tho
and due to my line of work its super hard. I went from being a heavey equipment operator, drilling and blasting techician, with a class 1 drivers license to wake up and watch it fade away. feels like the 2 years of college for my trade was useless.
feeling depressed.

thanks for your support misty girl it helps.

 Dear Deidre,

I know how you feel about not being able to drive a car, I have never driven a car due to my seizures and the fact that I am partially blind in both eyes and yes brain surgery is scary but it may be the only option. Have you had an MRI/MRA yet?
1 other thing I forgot to mention you might want to consider getting a medic alert necklace or bracelet if you keep having seizures. I know it has helped me having one.
