Boy, just when you think it's getting better, it comes right around the corner and kicks you in the butt. I had the most terrible experience this morning...all ready to go to work when I started to feel weak and nauseated, went to the bedroom to ride it out and had a seizure. When I was coming out of it I began to vomit  over and over. Needless to say I was so afraid of aspirating because I was having a hard time catching my breath between vomiting. Thank God my husband was able to help me. Now, we've both concluded that all this mess I've been going thru may have been related to a virus/flu. If there was ever I time I would like to say it's the flu now would be it. I never want to go thru that again. I've had several other small one today...without vomiting. I'm amazed how much trauma our brains can take an yet still remain functional.
Keep pulling for me.....I know it won't be long.

c. michele --so sorry that happened to you and hope you are feeling better. I had the exact same thing happen to me earlier in the week when I was experiencing a day of seizures, but wondered if it was the seizures or the meds causing the vomiting? It is amazing what our bodies can take isnt it? Hope you feel much better now!

sad  I am sorry you are having such a bad time. Are you taking medication at the present? Do you normally have warnings before a seizure?

I have had it for just 2 years and I was put on dilantin, neurontin and now depakote. Have to take 3-500 mg in morning and night. That was about the only thing that worked. Tell me more about your experience and how it all started. I am trying to get to know some of the members and naturally epilepsy is one group. Thank you and I hope you are feeling better.

I have cp seizures in tl---lately have been having more sp's in strings of deja vu like auras where I stop and stare and freeze---i take topomax tegretol and Kappra.....I get a feeling come over me of the deja vu or "its going to happen again"...I can usually tell when its going to be a bad day when I wake up cuz I feel disoriented, tired, groggy lethargic and it takes all I have just to get out of bed and move about. Those days I usually know I am going to have a seizure, also usually my anxiety level/emotions (crying) is elevated and usually my IBs (diarrhea ) may be flared. Sometimes hard to concentrate and memory is poor....hope this is helpful! tongue

For those who wanted to know how my seizures started:
Aug 2001 - Was in a staff meeting started to taste metal in the back of my throat. Began to have a coughing jag and on my way to my office fell out and had around 4 granmal seizures.Taken by ambulance to hosp and had 1 during the ride and 1 in the ER. Surprisingly, a resident went by my room when my husband was calling for help and said "Oh, my God she's having a grandmal seizure, look now she's going to do this... look how rigid her body is....amazing classic textbook seizure", and walked away.
Admitted to the hosp. worked up for 1 week, saw 4-5 different specialists. Had an MRI, EEG, blood tests every day. Everything was normal. No one had answers and they believed me because they don't resp. quickly to call bells...so none of the staff saw me have a seizure. It was over with by the time they got to the room and when I couldn't talk they just kept saying "why did you push your call bell, what's wrong with you?" So, here's the list of possible dx. they left me with.....syncope, anxiety attack, hypoglycemia, vasal vagal response (pinched vasal vagal nerve), thyroid problem. Couldn't find anything conclusive so sent me home. 15 seizures later from AUG-OCT. we were fed up and gave serious thought to going to Cleveland Clinic. At that time we needed a referral to see any other specialists. While in the waiting room I said to my husband I don't feel well and fell out and had a grandmal. Since the Dr. actually saw it he said "she's having a seizure". I was referred to a neurologist 1 hr. away and he turned out to be the greatest! All along I had kept a diary of all the events even down to what I ate to try to see some type of pattern. Finally, I noticed the seizures were related to my cycle. Final dx Catamenial Seizures. He started me on depakote, sent me into outer space for several days. Then we tried topomax..felt like my face was numb and gave me a terrible headache. After I did some research I asked my neuro if I could try Lamictal started at 25mg because I'm very sensitive to medications and now I'm at 750mg. I was controlled for about 2 yrs. until I had an undetected bladder infection, which caused me to have a seizure at work. At that time I was on 500mg, progressively over the years I have increased the dose with each run of seizures. This month has been terrible....I've had a seizure almost every other day. So, just bumped up the extra 50mg.
Someone gave a link to a website and I spent some time on there and was able to connect a few things. My Lamictal levels have dropped from 10 to 4 so absorption has changed and so have the style of seizure I'm having. Reading more I found that the type of seizure I'm having just recently is related to migraines (which I've had a lot this month) and my migraine medication Fiorcet has phenobarbital in it which can cause certain drug levels to drop.

Research helps and there is no one that wil take more interest in your health than you. Hope this helped in some way, I know it was good for me to hear others experiences.

c.michele,

This just goes to show you that it stays with you your whole life but can stay dormant in your system and can hit you at any time when you leaste expect it.

This is one main reason why you should stay on your meds. even if you think it's gone.

Are you still driving? If you are, maybe you should consider NOT driving at all untill this is cleared up cuz you may think that you will get some sort of warning and that you'll be able to pull over in time but that is a real risk, it only takes one time.

Been on meds ever since.

I'm still on my meds and Yes I drive but never during periods like this. Since my husband and I work at the brokerage together I can ride with him. When I'm not feeling well I won't go in public places unless he's with me. I've learned to adjust my life accordingly. If there is one thing I would never consider doing is going off of any med without my neuro's approval. With my Lamictal level dropping as low as it has in the last few weeks that's a great indicator to me what could happen if you went off of your meds. No thanks, I sure don't want to be in that state. I'm on my way to work and keeping my fingers crossed that there will not be any seizures today. Had a very slow start this morning, but after a cup of coffee I'm out of the funk.

Thanks for replying. The only thing I can say is that I get sweaty, nauseated, dizzy. That's just about it.
