Hi. Tough day. Called neuro re bizarre night happenings I posted about earlier. All he seemed interested in was asking about how the Keppra was working. Well, I said....I am not having cp's ....but now am having daily strings of sp's or aura's is this normal or usual. He said it is too early in assessment but how is the Keppra??? I said well it has only been 9 days I have heard it takes a long time to adj. to body...I said but I have noticed I feel better and have not had any unconscious cp's since going on med leave -working on computer system---thats not what I am asking you.....how do you like the KEppra.....I am feeling realy frustrated, sad, ready to scream!! I am supposed to be getting rest so that I can de-stress and let body heal and let meds regulate and work and let IBS settle down,,,,,,this seems so useless sometimes!! THanks for listening..also just finally got roe to apply for med benefits applied online then was told need another roe from previous job and also another doctors note from family physician....who is away for 2 weeks/////this will delay process and money for 2 more weeks....sorry to sound like such a pity party....thx for listening. tongue

Sheena-
Sorry you had such a hard day with the doc and the frustration of the stupidity of the system. I went through that too with disability. If you need help with getting things done, remember you don't have to go it alone. Get out your frustrations with a friend or someone you trust. Sometimes I've even shown up at the office when I needed something and gotten it because I was standing right there at the desk. Your family doctor will have someone covering them and may be able to write a note for you too.
Don't give up, Sheena!

Hi Sheena, uhhh!! Sometimes the neuro can be so frustrating. They don't listen to us, they just want to hear the questions they are asking!! It is hard but keep up the positive attitude. It is very hard, I myself have E, IBS, and Ulcer and bad acid reflux. All stress related and hard on my body. You have to try to relax. I find it almost impossible. I just claim it is the way my brain is "wired" and this is the only way I know how to function!! Anyhow, I am on the Keppra too. Been for about 7 months now. Give yourself time. These drugs are a kick in the ass and head so no worries everything you feel is totally normal (tired, dizzy, lack or coordination ect.) take care hope you find out more about disability soon. ERRRR !!!  I know !!! Sometimes dont you just want to grab the doctor and SHake him @!!!  They just dont listen !!!!  I dont understand !!!  Dont they teach them that in med school, to listen to the patient !!!
It took me 10 years to change my doc.... I told him, for 10 years ... I knew my episodes were related to my cycle, I even showed him my seizure diary, and he blew it off... ERRRR !!!  Finally... I said later... You stink !!!!! Some of these docs are enough to give you a seizure confused .....

Hang in there.... If you dont get answers soon , I wouldnt wait too long... I waited too many years.....It does take time to get adjusted to meds... But you should be getting some answers about your night time probems....

Again last night, I had the worst night.... You see, yesterday , all day, I felt horrible, just not right, then last night I was tossing and turning...now this morning, I am wiped, I wish I had my video eeg last night !!!
Feel good :-)

SheenaGirl,

Are you from Canada by any chance?

I am and I worked for Employment and Insurance for 21 years.

I just applied for medical benefits yesterday.

I'm also on CPP Disability Insurance and Disability Insurance through Sun Life of Canada, then when that runs out, medical retirement takes over.

I also have CPP package and need to take it back to HRDC Friday and take the other part to my doctor, also have appt with ODSP March 7th with worker and my spouse. I am on med. leave right now from work.

Nice chatting to you a fellow Canuck! Take care!! smurf

Hi SheenaGirl,

Wow, that's cool. What part of Ontario r u fr ? I'm fr Hamilton, Ont.

I'm on CPP Disability for an undetermined length of time, but please note, THIS WAS NOT MY DECISION. I fought to stay on the job for 4 years but my medications were slowing me down and I couldn't think without being in a fog.

My employer of 30 years (21 at HRDC,9 at Veterans Affairs) actually put me on DI.

You also mentioned you were applying for ODSP.  My son is on that program because he is Bi-Polar/Manic Depression.

How long do you expect to be off?

Regards

Randy
