HI Jess, So sorry that Dallas has started having seizures! It is hard to wait for medication to start helping. It can take a few weeks to see control. I hope the Trileptal will stop the seizures for him!

Glad you came for some support here. I have 2 kids who have struggled with seizures. My son was young when his started, he is now 14. My dd started more recently and is now 16

That is a lot of weird to go around....seriously, I am glad he is doing ok so far....The cranky part might settle down in a few weeks as he adjusts to meds...

Take care,

Yes, I would think he had a partial too. I hope you can call his neuro on Monday and tell him what happened and see what he thinks...Sorry he had a rough day. SO good when they recover and can play again!!

I know, for me, my son, bounces back faster than I do with his seizures...

Hoping tomorrow is a better day....

Hi all, my son Alex is 8 and had his first seizure in Nov 2004 which turns out he has double cortex symdrone which can cause different types of seizures and adhd, dyslexia, bipolar, and other things. He started on depokote but the doc changed it due to having to drawn blood to check levels, then he was on 150 mg of Trileptal but the seizures were still coming 2 to 3 to 9 times a day some lasting 10 to 15 mins long. He had 2 gran mals in April that resulted in 5 hr visits at the ER. Now he's on Limictal 300 mg a day and nope the seizures are still every day but they don't last as long. He's on homebound as the teachers at school were un sure how to help him as every seizure he falls forward or backward and you never know when he will have them so now he wears a helmet too.
Hope your son is better.

hi tonya,

im new to this forum but have found it so supportive.  i was interested to read your homebound situation as son has just become stable on Epilim and so is heading back to a new kindergarten as his current kindergarten didnt seem to want to learn about E or administer the valium if he did have a seizure there.  normally i would fight this kind of discriminatory attitude but we are leaving this town in less than 3 months and i just havent got the energy to try and change ignorance at the moment.  anyway, just wanted to say kia kaha ("stay strong" in Maori) for having your boy home with you, i know that it is tough on both of you after they have left home and had some independance.

hi jess, i am new to the board. so i know this is an old forum but wanted to ask a question - are things better? did your son respond to the meds? i have an 19 month old with epilepsy - he had surgery and was seizure free for 9 months but started up again - it isn't to the severity of before but hey they are still seizures. just wanted to know how things are going.
