I have never posted here before, so here's a little info about me. My name is Babs. I'm 47 years old. I mainly post in the Lupus forum and the MS forum.
I have lupus, RA, Fibro, Sjorgens, Raynauds, Diverticulitis, A lung condition from lupus, Seizures and possible MS.
I had a mild stroke in May of 2004. I started passing out, falling around and getting very light-headed in March of this year. I went to a Neurologist and had an EEG done and he said I was having complex partial seizures. He put me on Keppra 500mgs twice a day, and had to raise the dose to 750mgs twice a day, but I continued to have the seizures everyday. I was admitted into the hospital in April for evaluation and more testing. I was there for 5 nights. I had an MRI that showed white spots consistant with MS and a ST that showed 4 bands of abnormal protein also consitant with MS, but I have no dx yet. I also had alot of tests done on my heart and they were all normal.
While I was in the hospital he put me on Depakote along with the Keppra. When I was released I was a zombie from the Depakote and had to come off it. The seizures and falling spells continued until the first week in june, but were no longer complex partial seizures, they were simple partial. I have only had a very few seizures since then and my balance is alot better.
I have an appt at a Seizure Clinic in Birmingham on the 26th of this month for a consult. My question is: Have any of you been to a seizure clinic and what should I expect at the consult? I was told that I may be admitted to the clinic sometime after the consult and taken off my meds for possibley 2 days to a week. Do they take you off all your meds or just the seizure meds? When your in the clinic, do you just lay in a bed for a few days or do you go through some testing? I'm just trying to get an idea of what I may be facing during this. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Sorry this was so long, I just wanted to give you some background info that may help. Tks in advance. Hope your all having a good weekend. Take care and God Bless!!
