Hi everyone :-)
May this have come to you on a good day...
I'm new here to HW and have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, CFS, RLS, CTS, IBS, etc. but not epilepsy.  However, my doctor wants me to consider trying Gabapentin, citing that this anti-seizure med used for epilepsy also seems to help some of his patients.  As of yet, I haven't started the drug and am still weighing the decision.
In addition to their many other symptoms, Fibromyalgia and CFS patients often experience what's described as "brain fog", where concentration and quick recall can be difficult at times.  I've been told that Gabapentin affects one's memory and can increase this brain fog.  This is making me reluctant, especially as I'm a university student... but more so... because I fear losing more of my concentration and memory for everyday life.  Another thing that may be relavent is that I have a heart arrhythmia with occasional intense chest pain (which may or may not be related to the fibromyalgia... they're still trying to figure it out because of the heart and IBS stuff).  Also, I'm displaying the signs for MS, but have yet to be tested.
Has anyone here heard of Gapapentin or tried it before?
If so, what was it like, and can you share your advice?  From your experience/readings, are there any precautions I need to consider?  Do you know of any other side effects I should be aware of?
Thank you so much,
travelling seeker
